Blind recording artist, Lorin Nicholson, is an incredible acoustic guitarist. He is an exponent of both the classical and steel string guitars and regarded as one of Australia's finest.

Lorin's performance is authorised within the PERFORMANCES FOR SCHOOLS PROGRAM managed by the NSW Department Education & Training and accredited with Education Queensland.

The performance integrates three major components -

  • Entertain - through a wide variety of musical styles (classical, country, rock, jazz, R&B and folk),
  • Educate - using a range of visual aids and activities Lorin teaches about the special challenges of the disabled and encourages students to be more accepting of people with differences,
  • Inspire - by motivating individuals to look for the positives in their own lives and the lives of others through building the attributes of self esteem, confidence, determination, resilience, overcoming peer pressure and believing in one's self.

Thus you can see that the performance is more than just an inspiring guitar recital.

Over the past four years the Department of Education in NSW has recognized Lorin's outstanding contribution to the touring performance program in Schools by awarding him the annual "Frater Award". This award he has won for the past three years running, and has been given based on the glowing reports the Department has received from School evaluations of the performance.

Lorin's sincere message, coupled with his masterful performance on the guitar, will leave a lasting impression in the heart and mind of every member of the audience.
